Please could you provide an explanation of what you are trying to communicate?

The user asked me ā€œPlease could you provide an explanation of what you are trying to communicate?ā€ and also ā€œWhat’s happening here?ā€ wich means he probably needs further explanation of a video with the heading ā€œeaster egg timeā€ i provided earlier. I should also explain in detail what’s happening in the video. But wait, what if the user has not watched the video, i cannot rely on the medium itself. I also should give an detailed explanation about not documented features like pattern break, the xBRK command in Polyend Tracker. But wait, i cannot be sure the user is aware of such functions of trackers in general. I should give a historical explanation of the D command in MOD Tracker. But wait, the video is only about 5 seconds long, perhaps there is not much interest in even longer text. Let’s get straight to the point without describing other related products.

ā€œYou see a hidden command named xBRK wich is not documented and cannot be accessed in normal operation.ā€

But wait, i should also give an explanation what the command does. I should not go too much into detail. Let’s see what we have:

ā€œYou see a command named xBRK wich breaks the pattern at a specific point and jumps to the next one in the song. This feature is not offically included in the Polyend Tracker and you cannot access it from the usual track fx menu.ā€

But wait, what if the user does not know about the normal operation of the Polyend Tracker, perhaps i should also give a link to the manual as a reference to the documented features. But wait, that involves even more reading. I can try to reduce the text to a bare minimum so that only relevant information is transported. But wait, it should contain the most important information the user asked for.

Yeh well you might be from the USa or on social media, (i.e it is common for people on these platforms to do what you are doing right now) and thus, i generally have no idea. You are uploading a video in order to communicate about a tracker which is ironic. Context also- there has been a new beta released; so how are we to know if this is simply post about likes or you actually wanting to share info with fellow tracker owners.

There is a whole gamut of possibilities.

Your communication is a bit strange and off putting. Ultimately, if you are communicating that this is a ā€œhidden command named xBRKā€ and then referencing that people don’t know how to xyz, then your whole post falls apart. Hidden means it is hidden.

Ok then let me be more clear dear fellow:

  1. Its an implemented function that is not (yet) accessible by default. I thought it would be fun to share with the community because not many have seen this in the PT.
  2. That i then have to explain takes most of the fun away. I called it ā€œeaster eggā€ like hidden things in old games.
  3. Then I explained it in a reasoning ai manner to at least have some fun while explaining it.
  4. Your post is the modern internet in a nutshell. Assuming that i am from the US says more about yourself. And for the record, i have not one social media account.

Let’s be kind to eachother

I get the context. But please explain how you explained anything? Eastern egg time was the title. Yes, indeed, I’m aware of what easter egg refers to. So in essence you are wanting users to find the hidden function? Ok that is fine. However, why would anyone bother to dig deeper when there is no sound in your video? Bring the horse to the water lol. Most of us are time poor - and seriously, well , it better be one hell of an easter egg. At the same time CONTEXT my friend: in my experience tracker musicians and the tracker community are ā€˜open source’, ā€˜intentional’ and they share, openly, ideas, tips and tricks without being intentionally opaque. It is a tracker after all not an elektron/roland/insert? machine. In essence anti-consumerist in nature. Please genuinely read and consider my insight and words. Peace brother.

That escalated quickly  no problem, you are absolutely right. I will not share those things again :folded_hands: let’s make some good tunes, right?

Don’t let the haters get you down. This is amazing to know. Thanks and keep the eggs coming!

Also how do you enter it?

Someone talking about ā€œanti-consumerismā€ in a forum for electronic luxury goods is just …. hilarious (but not in a good way?).

Anyway, the command seems useful and fun! I hope that it gets implemented. :slightly_smiling_face:

The command used to be present in previous versions of the firmware for compatibility when importing MOD files, but seems to be discontinued in later versions of the firmware.

yeh luxury goods ha……an mk1 tracker purchased on the second market and a cheapie one with a broken jog wheel.

Hehe, fair enough, still a luxury good as in ā€œnot necessary for livingā€. You could have gone for an open source solution, too, though.

It was not meant as an offense in your direction. It just reminded me in what kind of a society we’re living in, if this is considered anti-consumistic. Makes me sad a bit. Sorry.

If you where on stage, everyone would be throwing easter eggs at you

does xbrk work for the whole pattern? can it work at the track level to allow for polyrhythms?

Literally the only useful post in this entire conversationšŸ˜‚ thanks for filling us in!
