I already have a PolyEnd Tracker and was wondering if I added a Tracker+ could it be made into an integrated 24 Track Editor? If so, how could this be done?
Hi there @jimb, welcome to backstage. Very cool to have you join us here ![]()
You can sync them up via MIDI with one as the Master and the other that follows to sync MIDI clock and transport controls. Beyond that, there is no actual integration like both Trackers sharing the same instrument pool.
Hope that answers your question ![]()
As I already have a lot of Tracker projects saved, I am trying to work out how I could migrate these to Tracker+ or whether it is possible to operate these side-by-side. My preferred option probably would be to upgrade all my work to the Tracker+ as it has USB DAW integration, thus I could tightly couple their operation, instead of the loose coupling currently employed using Tracker as the frontend MIDI controller/sequencer with Logic being used for the Audio mix down. Note: I am using a hybrid approach with a lot of older midi capable instruments generating the sounds.
For me, the process of manually transferring project files is the greatest limitation of Tracker.
So is there someway for Polyend tracker (.poly) projects could be shared with Tracker+?
PS for DAW import, I extract the midi data from the .poly file using https://polyend-tracker-midi-export.onrender.com/
All your OG Tracker projects are fully compatible with the Tracker+. So you won‘t have an issue opening/running them on the new tracker.
But since the OG Tracker doesn‘t have USB Storage mode (and never will), you are left with transfering them once from the old to the new tracker.
I also have a very hybrid approach to things (mix of DAW, other synth hardware via MIDI etc). So if there are any specific questions there, maybe i‘ll be able to help you.
I suppose I am wondering that without file integration, is there is any merit in keeping the OG Tracker, if I upgraded to the Tracker+?
I still have both and love them. It just gives your more room to work with.
Or you can create like DJ style sets (throw a mixer in between for full DJ action).
It really depends on how you have been using the available number of tracks so far on the OG.. or if you could benefit from having additional sample tracks while using both at the same time. Which is easy if you use MIDI to sync the two.
What exactly are you hoping to gain from upgrading?
I have just retired and am upgrading my hobby home studio from 8 to 24 channels by adding 2x OptoPre’s to my Focusrite Scarlett 18i20. My aim is to move away from patching in & out instruments, which often breaks the flow of a new idea, and instead have them on dedicated channels. So effectively changing my current workflow where I use OG Tracker primarily as a midi controller, listening to interplay of the instruments live, before mixing them down in Logic.
I was looking at Tracker+ to cater for those extra instruments/audio channels, that way I could allocate a track/instrument to each channel, plus tighter DAW integration. Thoughts?
PS I am really looking forward to connecting the Poly Endless into a couple of the new channels and feeding some of my instruments through it, to hear what it can produce. (8^)
