Change Envelope Automation Values via StepFX

Sometimes you want an Instrument to have a short stabby release, while at other times the same instrument should ring out and fade away slowely. This is something that can only be achieved via workarounds at the moment. By expanding the step fx, this could be made a valuable feature.

What is the problem?

You may want to use the same sound in different ways. In one pattern you may want it to have a short attack and a very short release to create stabs. While in another part of the song, you may want it to have a slow attack and a slow release.

Currently you can achieve this by copying the instruments and changing the envelopes for the copy. But this solution will prevent you from using Glide Step FX, since they are considered two different instruments.

Also using Volume StepFX is only a partial solution since the tempo of your project may cause a perceivable stepping effect.

What do you want to achieve?

By creating Step FXs for the individual parts of the ADSR values of Envelopes, you could manipulate the Volume and Cutoff programatically and thereby alter the versatility of a single instrument massively.

Are there any workarounds?

  • Copy the instrument as many times as needed to achieve the ADSR that you are looking for.
  • Try working around it by using existing fx that may cause audible stepping.

This would be awesome. I’m often wishing that I could do this :crossed_fingers:t3:

Would love to automate the decay and attack of the amp and filter envs
