Can't update firmware on Play+

Hey everyone!
I’m new to Polyend Play+. Got it today and first of all I wanted to check the synth engines, but it was not in the main menu. After a quick search, I realized that my Polyend Play+ come from a box with a firmware v.1.2 for Play (not Plus).

I’ve downloaded the basic SD data for Play+ and the latest firmware from the Polyend site and tried to install it over Plus firmware v.1.2, but it crashed every time after I tried like “Update failed”.
After I thought that maybe I need to upgrade it to some higher version of classic Play firmware and downloaded v.1.5 firmware for Play version. It has been installed correctly.

Then I tried to update it to Play+ firmware and these files are just not appearing from the Firmware update menu and I’m unable to see them.

Has some one faced similar issues with you Play+? I really don’t understand how it worked like that and Play+ without it’s differences from Play.

Pretty sad that it doesn’t work from the box as it should and it really takes a lot of time to find the way how to fix it.

Did you buy this Play+ new?

It seems rather bizarre that a Play+ could even have Play firmware on it in the first place and then accept an update to Play v1.50.

You should verify that the unit you have is ACTUALLY a Play+. Did it register on the Polyend site as a Play+?

Did somebody sell you a Play with an extra “+” sign stuck next to the logo?

Very suspicious.

Try to delete your workspace folder on the sd card and retry. Sometimes it gets corrupted and that is a fix that works for many things.

Yes, I bought it new and it does register on Polyend’s site as a Play+
I’ve searched through the forum and it seems that I have the same issue as described here:

I tried it but it doesn’t fix this issue. Anyway thanks for an advice!
I think it’s really just a matter of a manufacturing trouble, so hopefully I can change it for another one, but with the right firmware.

If you bought it from a retailer - tell them what the issue is - they may want to check their other stock in case it’s a batch issue (and they might be grateful to you for that).

Please email support@polyend.com and they can help you get a replacement unit asap.
