I want to setup up a mini setup with a polyend play+ and a polyend synth. I am a noob. What I know is, that I need to connect the Play with the synth. Since they have the same midi ports, what cable I need to connect them? What I have to check in the menu of both devices to connect them?
And then, how can I get the audio out of both devices at the same time? A mixer? Is there a mini setup that is enough for this? Can I buy this $30 mini mixer and connect a headphone to it or are there any other cheap solutions for that?
In terms of mixer I have a small passive one from myVolts:
It’s passive but if you’re mainly concerned about headphones, not recording and you can easily control the volume on each device something like that could work. I remember seeing another one but it doesn’t come to mind right now, maybe someone else will remember
If you don’t want a mobile setup and you want to record the audio (someone correct me) but you’re probably better of with an active mixer (as in it will need to be plugged in and powered) they’re larger but there are some in the same price range. Don’t have one so I can’t make a recommendation.
For the first questions from a quick glance for the mini midi jacks a 3.5mm stereo cable plugged into both should be just fine in this case. For the menus I’ll let someone with these devices chime in
For MIDI you can use a regular 3.5mm stereo jack and connect the midi out of one to the in of the other (I usually go from the Play to the Synth). On the Play (don’t have the + but should be the same) you go to the MIDI menu and set Clock Out and Transport Out to MIDI Out Jack. On the Synth, go to MIDI and set both Clock In and Transport In to MIDI In Jack and you should be set.
I have one, but only used it once tbh, of those cheap USB powered mini stereo mixers that I got from Amazon or Alixpress. It works fine for what it is and you really can’t beat the price
