Hey folks, wondering if there’s a way to bulk change instruments on the tracker mini? The workflow I am considering is to compose using the internal engine, then switch from internal instruments to midi to control my modular rig and wiggle it from there.
Workaround: go into every pattern and edit all instruments. Need to do it for each pattern and need to keep one instrument per track or it will get out of hand fast.
Sorry to say, but no. This might be a future maybe… if we get the specs for projects opened to the public. Then a utility/tool could definitely achieve this.
Maybe this problem would be reduced if we didn’t have to store redundant instrument information in the first place. Basically allow to have an instrument setting of “–” for current instrument and stored as step instrument and it means play with same instrument that was last used on current track.
Tbh 90% of the time I try to play or record some notes via midi controller I accidentally start with the wrong instrument because I naively assume I’m already on the right track, then I curse and undo and select instrument to match the current track then continue.
While I appreciate you can mix multiple instruments in one track (most common for drums I guess) for many tracks this is not needed and then it would be nice to only have to specify instrument once at start of song.
Although admittedly it’s not 100% clear to me in pattern mode how to inherit the instrument since there is no clear “predecessor” pattern if it doesn’t occur in the song or occurs multiple times. Maybe it would instead need to be a song / project setting of “default instrument per track”.
Surely if you could just move the instruments from one slot to another, that would solve it. So S4 becomes S9 and boom, you have a weird clap where you had a synth, or a midi out where you had an internal synth, etc,
