Bulk Sample- / MIDI-Track Soloing & Muting

Muting or soloing multiple tracks on release of a button combination is useful in case a user wants to do that for multiple tracks and/or a mix of sample- and MIDI-tracks.

What is the problem?

Some users want to change mute or solo states on multiple tracks at the same time.
This can quickly get very tricky with increasing number of tracks or with mix of sampler and MIDI tracks.

What do you want to achieve?

Here are the steps, how this could work:

  1. Press and hold two screen buttons
  2. Toggle mute or solo on multiple tracks - nothing happens
  3. Release screen buttons - tracks you’ve toggled change mute and/or solo states

Are there any workarounds?

Switching patterns.

Ok this will definitely requires some explanation. Because as i see it now:

  • you can mute and/or solo individual tracks on the MIDI and Sample Tracks
  • they seem pretty easily accessible via the two rows on the right at any given time

Since you are mentioning the Digitakt, are you refering more in a Song-Mode kind of way?

A cool way to do this would be to hold shift, and then turn the main encoder to scroll up/down from the sample page to the midi/synth page, similar to how you scroll on the piano roll. Then you could select solo or mute for some of both at the same time. There’s times when I want to solo a midi/synth track and a few samples at the same time

  • you can mute and/or solo individual tracks on the MIDI and Sample Tracks
Yeah, but what if I want to do that for two sample and two MIDI tracks at the same time?
Or if you want to unmute tracks 1, 2, 6 and 7 in one of the modes at the same time? Turning your hand 90 degrees and pressing the correct squares at the same time might not always work out.
Granted, you can just switch patterns but that throws me out of the flow during a performance.

True. I’ve been practicing toggling mute in one mode for four tracks, but more often then not I either miss the buttons, don’t apply enough pressure or hit close by buttons.

Can’t tell for sure. Analog kitchen explained how this works in one of his videos on YouTube. Unfortunately I can’t find it anymore.

My idea:
Press and hold two screen buttons
Toggle mute or solo on multiple tracks - nothing happens
Release screen buttons - tracks you’ve toggled change mute and/or solo states

Hey @sheynkler87, thanks for the clarification, that piece here perfectly describes what you are trying to achieve. Mind adding this the wish description and rephrasing it so it is clear that, that is the intention?
Thanks for your help!

Done. I hope it’s easier to understand now.
