Another huge bug that’s essentially a broken feature..
Whatever amount of slices I choose in beat slice mode it makes no difference when I press slice auto. It’s always 13 slices.

Is this on Tracker/T+?
There are two methods of slicing (if you exclude adding slices manually)
On the Sample Playback page, select Beat Slice then press “More” to show the slicing options:
Slice Auto
This just detects transients (beats) in your sample. You can’t set the number of slices as it depends how many transients are detected. It helps to Normalize your sample first too (in the Sample Editor)
Slice Evenly
This option divides your sample into a set number of evenly spaced slices. You set the number of slices in the No of Slices option on the same page. First set the number of slices then tap the Slice Evenly button.
Oh you can’t set the sensitivity of the auto slice?! I thought that was what the no. of slices function was for ? ![]()
Erm…
That’s weird…
Unfortunately no. Definitely should be an option. I find the workflow isn’t too bad though once you get used to it: I can slice a sample up pretty fast now using a combination of Auto and then scan through the slices adding or removing ones I don’t want as I tweak the slice points.
I’d love a sensitivity setting though but honestly the workflow is decent.
I find the worst part is sometimes the auto (transient) slicing, a slice can catch a small part of the next sample at the end which you can hear as a slight click. Haven’t quite figured out what causes it though it seems to happen more with transients that have high frequency content at the very start. I could be wrong though. I filed this as a bug but so far it hasn’t been addressed.
Hang on so what’s the point in being able to set the amount of slices if it doesn’t do anything?
None of the bugs seem to be addressed some are really annoying
It does, when you use the Slice Evenly function - it slices the sample in to evenly spaced slices, the number of which you set in the No of Slices setting.
I’m fairly new to the Tracker (though not to audio hardware and software!) so while some of the bugs do…bug me, I’ve not been around long enough to comment.
User error isn’t a bug, it’s a feature! ![]()
On a serious note, the slice function works exactly as intended. It either auto-slices based on a transient detection algorithm or you can set the amount of slices you want, and it will chop up the sample evenly with that # of slices.
I never wanna slice evenly lol just wanna be able to easily cut up a break or melody with it’s transients, so that’s really annoying that beat slice doesn’t effect the sensitivity…
Don’t get me wrong I love the tracker and I am also pretty new to it. I found quite a few things that dont function as you would expect…
I hear you. I’m on the other side of the fence where I rarely use the auto-slice, and stick to either even cuts or manual slicing.
Manual slicing is quite fast once you get some practice into it and it’s foolproof in the sense that you always get your cuts right where you want them.
I’d be happy to have such a thing too. Auto-slicing I mean
Auto slicing does work already, you just can’t set the sensitivity.
You can edit the number of slices and their positions after doing either of the slicing tool options. There’s no mind reading feature unfortunately.
It’s detecting the transients you dork, every other sampler has a sensitivity incase it’s not catching some of the hits. You can obviously also add or remove or edit the position of the chops… no mind reading just a standard normal function that every sampler has with beat slicing.
Can we not with the name calling, please.
