Audible clicks with DEL/REV

Bug Description

When using loads of delay and/or reverb with long time settings on manly PMD drone/pad sounds there is a sometimes faint, sometimes strong clicking noise. The clicks get stronger when using a random ARP for some automated variations.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Setting up the Scene:
    Synths: Voices 1

Grid: Layout any, Mode Note, Scale Locrian, Root F# / F#0

  1. Setting up the drone/pad sound (‘Darklight’):
PMD → Exciter: Air Level 150%, Air Flow 76%, Glide Mode Always, Glide Time 0s

Resonator: Form 13%, Brightness 71%, Tune - 3st, Position 100%, Dampening 100%, Fine tune -13c, Space 68%, Array 28%

LFO: Sync On, Ratio 1/4, Waveform Rnd S&H, Retrigger Free Running

ARP: Type Random, Groove 1, Rate 1, Gate Lenght 200%, Oct Range 1

  1. Setting up the FX:
DEL: Model PingPong, Time1 1/2T, Time2 1/4D, Feedback 83%, Filter Freq 448 Hz, Filter Width 1.55 Oct, Flutter 47%, Stereo 100, Tempo sync On

REV: Model Warp, Time 95, Brightness 29, Size 100, Geometry 26, Diffusion 100, Filter Freq 6.63 kHz, Filter Gain 7 dB

  1. Setting up the Mixer/Effect:
DEL: -11 dB, REV: -5 dB

  2. Play any (deep) note / hold any (deep) note.

  3. Listen to the clicking sounds

I have a probably dumb question- if you were to increase the synth’s polyphony for that voice to say 2+, would the clicking stop?

I ask because an arp is doing a constant retrigger, and the polyphony is one (1). Every synth I’ve ever used (tons), will create clicking sounds when overlapping only one voice. Delay and reverb will accentuate that.

Maybe it’s something else, but that would be my first guess.

It stays the same, except with the CPU load switching to ‘high’. Just tested that, but was worth the try. Thanks for the suggestion :+1:t2:
