I just received the Synth and been playing around for a couple of hours. I like a lot about it however what’s kind of a bummer is, that whenever i turn the main volume knob i hear a click (digital, not the knob itself). This happens with no notes played at all. It also does not happen when I adjust the synths volumes in the mixer.
I’m on firmware 1.2.0. Anyone else having this issue? Could it be something that’s fixable in software or would it be hardware-related?
Hey there @frannyglass79, welcome to Backstage! Great to have you join us all here
I can confirm on my end that there are some slight clicks as I bring the volume up towards the max. Being powered by my PC over USB.
To be sure we’re talking about the same thing, if you turn the volume to max and then very slowly start to bring the volume down, do the clicks bounce between the left and right channels? (recommend trying this with headphones).
the click is audible from around -20db and gets louder as I go up to the 12db max (on the display). I feel like it’s not moving from side to side. There’s also some very low-volume noise when I go up to max.
The more I think about it the more I believe it’s a software issue. So it should be fixable?
Slightly unrelated, but I also get clicks (sometimes) when, what I assume is, voice stealing happens. This could probably addressed by adding very short fades?
So, summary question: are there any plans to investigate/fix the clicks? As it’s a new product I’m hopeful there will be more updates however in the current state with the clicking I’m unsure if I’m going to keep it even though lots of it is very cool.
Just went through the current reported bugs and there is none that fits what you are experiencing, so I would suggest reporting a new bug using the link below. I can move this conversation there afterwards to keep the context
When turning the main volume knob I can hear clicks which get quieter or louder depending on the direction of the volume change. Most audible between -10 and +12db.
Hi @frannyglass79 , Thank you for taking the time to report this issue. Unfortunately, this is a known hardware issue which cannot be fixed with firmware updates due to limitations in current system architecture. We understand this may be disappointing, and we truly appreciate your feedback. It’s important for us to be transparent, and while we’re unable to fix this specific issue, we’ll keep your report on file in case future hardware changes make a resolution possible. Thanks for your understanding and support.
Just to make sure I understand, this issue exists on every Synth and exchanging it wouldn’t change it?
That’s disappointing. It seems like something that would come up early in development. Hm, bit of a bummer, I really like most everything else about the Synth. Gonna spend the rest of my return window trying to let it convince me to keep it.
