Just wanted to be certain, but… there’s no arp function in midi mode on the Play, correct?

I had one thought though: surely if you increase the play speed, you’re creating a kind of cheats arp? OK so you’d need to program in each note, and I’ve no idea how it would work for longer arp phrases that shift over time, but as a kind of workaround, that might do it, no?

Sure thing but the fun with the arp in audio is to automate the speed and type of arp by step (to me anyway). Check the little jam around A0 min in this video I did for an exemple of what I’d like to do with midi:
