Allow looped sample loader preview

What is the problem?

Currently, when using single cycle waveforms, the sample importing workflow is not ideal because the “preview” button only plays the sample once. In the case of single cycle waveforms, this results in a blip.

What should this feature achieve?

Since the shift button already gives some on-screen buttons different functions, perhaps holding the shift button while pressing preview could keep looping the sample until you let go of preview.

Another option would be to have shift-preview apply the currently highlighted instrument’s settings to the .wav sample to be previewed. That would make it easy to, for example, prepare a wavetable instrument and easily experiment with exchanging the underlying .wav.

Are there any workarounds?

You can load in a sample and set up the loop mode in the instrument, then load in the sample using “add” to replace the existing one which will allow preview via the pads. However this workflow is cumbersome and takes quite a few button presses per sample.

Hi, I think that this wish has already been expressed here and there.

Hmm yes, those look very similar.

I think with shift-preview applying the currently highlighted instrument’s parameters to the selected sample, it would neatly grant both their wishes and mine.
