AKAI MPK mini 4 - Midi in to Tracker Mini PROBLEM

Hi,

because older AKAI MPKs didnt have midi out OUTPUT i get the newest MPK mini 4 - witch have special MIDI OUT 5din output.

So i get 5din to mini jack kable, CONNECT MPK and Tracker Mini - set up MIDI in Tracker to recive notes on CH1, set keys on MPK on CH1 - and nothing happens…

WHAT TO HELL I DO WRONG ???!!! HEEEEEELP

Hmmm, that should be working fine without any issue. Did you try using the 5pin to mini jack that came with your Mini?

It might seem like a silly question, but are you sure that cable is type b? (I’ve never seen that one before, else I’d check myself) all your setting look fine, so hopefully it’s the cable either having finally died on you, or it may be type a and won’t function with the mini.

PIN B? Nope, its pin A, specialy for AKAI

but they also have PIN A version

So i bought the other one?

Polyend devices require the TRS (mini jack) side to be Type B. Use the adapter that came with the Tracker Mini. The 5 pin DIN side is just standard MIDI and type A/B is irrelevant on that end. So any 5 pin MIDI DIN connection will work with your Akai. But the TRS (mini jack) end that goes into the Mini has to be type B. The difference is due to the way the wires are routed to the tip-ring-sleeve of the mini jack.
