Adjusting synth parameters with midi controller?

I have the tracker mini and would like to use a midi controller to control the filter cutoff of one of the internal synth engines while a sequence plays.

Based on everything I’ve read, this doesn’t seem to be possible? It seems like you can use the performance effects with a midi controller, but those wouldn’t be able to produce a filter sweep.

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t be able to adjust synth parameters via cc. According to the manual, even the sample-based midi instruments need the sequencer to be stopped in order to control parameters via midi.

This seems like pretty basic midi functionality, so I feel like I have to be missing something.

Hey @seth.fried, welcome to backstage!

That is correct and there are performance effects for the 6 customizable macros for the synths. So you can actually create a filter sweep that way.

Create a macro that controls whatever parameter you want for the filter sweep (cutoff or resonance) and set one of the slots in perfomance mode to use that macro via its CC.

Thank you! I knew I was missing something. Did not realize you could set the peformance value with CC. I just thought it’d let you trigger whatever value was already set.

I’ll test this, but that sounds like exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks again.
