A couple of issues playing live

Hi you guys. I’ve experienced a couple of issues playing live outdoor with my play +

The first one was because of dust and wind. Some knobs began to act in a random way without touch it, changing parameters randomly.

But the second was even worst. I was playing my live set into an old church and light starts to fell down. We did several tests pluging and unplugging all of the stuff, but it was impossible to identify the source of the problem. It happened like ten or twelve times and we decides to stop our gig. When the organitzation turn on the big lights (?) I realized that the knobs were wet, probably because of my sweat. (That evening we were at 28 or 29 centigrad degrees at 22:00 :_D)

Is it possible? I’m not realy angry about it, was surrealist, but i think it could be great to know if it could be improved or tested or whatever. I use my Play + a lot and now I’m afraid to do another gig outdoor

Thanks in advance

Hey @marc.mateu, i need some clarification from you (i assume you probably speak french, if it helps you can also explain in french).

The light starts to fell down? Like.. an actual light? or are you missing a word here? Maybe rain?

To me it sounds like the capacitive touch might be the cause of your issue. You could always disable that option to prevent accidental “presses”.

Hahaha sorry. I’m catalan. I don’t speak french. Sorry about the lights misunderstanding. It’s a typical confusion between english and catalan or even spanish.

The power went out? I don’t know if it’s correct. My Play caused a short circuit? :see_no_evil_monkey:

By the way, i have capacitive touch always disabled

Haha sorry, i read Mateu and my brain automatically went to France  .. les meves disculpes!.

Aaah catalunya - such a beautiful region!

Aaanyway  .. that seems odd.. especially since the Play devices don’t really have a high power requirement. You can easily power them from a 1A phone charger.

What powersupply did you use?

As a tip, you could power it from a powerbank, then you won’t have to worry about the powergrid of the location and you won’t have any ground noise either :flexed_biceps:

went out the power of the entire electric installation, not only my Play because of the sweat and humidity. That’s my theory. And I’m using the original power bank.
:smiling_face_with_tear:

Ok  .. then chances are it was just too much humidity for everything: the electric installation and the Play

Here’s what i would suggest / would try the next time:

  • Get a USB Powerbank (something like this)
    • This makes sure your device stays safe, if there are power issues with the event location. Because this way you are not connected to the same grid.
  • Take an additional normal phone charger with you (something like this)
    • In case there is a problem with the original powersupply.

In both cases, make sure the device supports 5V/1A output. This is the power input the Polyend Play and Tracker devices expect. In case of USB Powerbanks, they usually have the electronics inside that can regulate by itself (if you get a good brand like Anker or Xiaomi).

With USB Phone Chargers, always check the output specs.

Hope that helps.
Regarding humidity: There’s not much anyone can do.
Water and electricity or electric components are not very good friends

It’s easy. There’s an option in a menu
