16 or 24 bit samples?

Hi,

is there any special reason to use 16bit not 24bit samples in tracker mini? Are there any limitations in mini… im thinking about memory or some number of sounds to be played at once?

24 bit samples play back at 16 bit, so I would recommend 16 bit samples on the Mini for memory purposes.

From research that I’ve looked into, 24 bit can capture some higher frequencies but it’s questionable if listeners can hear that frequency range; while at the same time you have a larger file size compared to 16 bit. Haven’t compared first hand.

I’ve built a tool which transcodes all the exported tracks to correct 44100/16 wavs (trying to work around the Tracker bitrate big)

I think you’d be better off going 16 bit for samples and then mixing to 24.
