Is there a way to place samples on a triplet grid on the play?

Ya, select a track and turn the tempo to 3/2 and the step count down to 12. Now two of those bars will equal one 16 step bar at 1/1 tempo. Or vary your math according to your desires!

You can use micromove to get triplets. Place a step, then a 2nd step 1/16th note later but with a micromove of 11. Then your third step would be 1/8th note later than that.

I believe using the 3/4 or 6/8 Repeat settings will also get you a sort of triplet rhythm.
