Tracker Mini: Metallic Edition and Upgrade Kit

I think the animation on the webpage suggests there’s buttons below the metal plate, that makes them act like a jog wheel.

So both. Or neither

No jogwheel, same buttons.
Exactly the same screen with probably a extra glass front for seamless look.

What I know is that if you guys want an upgrade kit, you shall still vote up this wish

Because for now it looks like it’s a special edition so we basically need to re-buy it :man_shrugging:t2:

But that’s the whole point for a Limited Edition

Limited quantity, more cost intensive design ( thanks god there’s no ruby record button) and short availability.

You want the tracker mini tech, buy the standard edition.
You want to celebrate the 10th birthday and have something special, buy the Limited Edition.
(Thats what my wife always tells me with her Hermes Bags uugh)

I love the updated directional-rocker! Temptation grows stronger.

They could make the upgrade kit slightly uglier

Regarding the mini’s MIDI ports, considering:

  • this has become the standard since a few years and so on pretty much any new gear

  • this is just about how the wiring is done at the ports level (no major physical changes)

I would also appreciate that new special edition had TRS type A MIDI ports instead of B.

Best would be type A/B switchable mechanism like on 1010music or DirtyWave. But that requires deeper changes and I don’t believe they made any changes on the components of the board.

I would prefer the invention of type c with tip and sleeve flipped, just to prevent any successful first time cabeling at events.

For real, Kay from lpzw has an open source implementation of a crossover here:

I remember the same type of headache with crossed or not crossed RJ45 Ethernet cables.

Since then, manufacturers fortunately implemented this auto-cross feature on the ports

There’s also this:

Thanks. Never understood the rationale of Polyend keeping releasing type B units as the standard of type A has been validated years ago (well before the mini was released).

Do even the new Pedal and Synth units still ship with type B ?

Actually, there is no definitive standard when it comes to TRS, hence why we have the A/B/C mess. It would be up to all manufacturers to come together and decide which one to use.
Atleast C is pretty much extinguished at this point. But there still a few that use Type B as well.

The MIDI Association does officially recommend TRS Type A though. The MIDI 2.0 specs also lean towards TRS-A.

Yes everything is Type B. I totally understand it, from a Polyend ecosystem perspective.
But even so, what i’d love to see in the future is:

  • MIDI In to be A/B agnostic in the future (using Jakplugg’s solution)
  • MIDI Out to be switchable (physically via a jumper/switch or digitally via a setting)

But this is beyond the scope of this request of course. So if anyone feels so inclined, feel free to create a feature request for future devices

EDIT:
Instead of asking, i went ahead and created the request myself:

It was indeed a side-discussion.

Thanks for posting the request, I voted it up

I’ve a few things with that coating. My mpc live rubber coating is starting to breakdown, do you have any tips or links on cleaning it off and repainting it, without making a complete hash of it. (Sorry going off topic, all but he seems knowledgeable on the subject).

My brain is already shutdown for the weekend. What I’ve done in the past is sandpaper 150, 180, 220 with an orbital sander. Maybe even 320 if hand sanding. Then Tamiya paint. But you have to make sure you’re getting the correct formula. I dont remember which is which but I’ll check later.

Just went through a « take my money moment » with Polyend. Preorder done for the silver one
