Description
The effect is a 12-voice tempo-synchronized sample performer that automatically records 1.5-second samples whenever the input exceeds a fixed −30 dBFS threshold. Three different recorded voices are continuously selected at random every two bars and performed by independent 64-step sequencer lanes, creating constantly changing four-bar patterns. Knob 1 transforms the samples from normal playback into increasingly fragmented stereo sprays, with different fragment resolutions, randomized spatial placement and dynamic level variations. Knob 2 introduces progressive Memory Degradation, independently aging each active voice through tape saturation, filtering, wow & flutter, dropouts, stereo drift, sample-rate reduction and increasingly broken memory artifacts. Knob 3 controls 20 four-bar sequencer presets ranging from Electro and IDM to Dubstep and Shoegaze, while the complete system continuously evolves without destroying the original recorded samples.
Knob 1 — Sample Spray:
Fully left = normal 1.5 s sample playback. Turning right progressively increases fragmentation and creates animated stereo sprays; fully right activates changing random fragmentation.
Knob 2 — Memory Degradation:
Fully left = clean playback. Only for normal sample playback. Turning right moves through eight increasingly damaged memory stages, from subtle worn tape to nearly erased digital/tape decay; fully right activates Generative Memory Failure with a new independently aged state every two bars.
Knob 3 — Sequencer:
Selects 20 different four-bar / 64-step rhythmic presets. Fully left automatically selects random existing presets depending on tempo; fully right generates new four-bar sequence variations.
Footswitch — Double Short Press:
Tap Tempo sets the global tempo.
Footswitch — Long Press:
Smoothly clears all 12 recorded sample voices and resets the sample memory for a new recording cycle.
