Strange audio issue

New user here, bought a synth used on reverb. Hardly used. It arrived undamaged. It was loaded with firmware v2.0. I’ve had it for a week. As of April 30th 2026, it was working fine till it wasn’t. I’ve search here on backstage to find if anyone else is having similar issues and I think mine might possibly be different. I’ve taken the as card out and have erased global setting and workspace like many of you have suggested and it didn’t fix the issues. I’m using the pen block and c cord. Basically every time I plug in my headphones it makes a doot doot on off noise and the screen slightly dims when it occurs but none of the synths are playing. Seems I can navigate everything else like normal but I’m getting nothing. I feel like I accidentally damaged the port possibly. I tried hooking it up to a tascam recorder and I’m afraid maybe it did something. I’m starting to feel like In accidentally fried it with phantom power on output by plugging it into the recorder. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I do realize I may need to send it in for repair.

Hey there @kentonj.ley, welcome to backstage. Wish I was welcoming you here for better reasons. Let’s try to get this sorted for you.

When you got your synth via reverb, was the original owner able to remove it from their account so you could register it in your name?

Either way I would contact support ASAP and let them handle it as it does point to a hardware issue.

If ever you didn’t take the steps to exchange the registration I would reach out to the original owner and see if they could take a moment to remove the registration on their device. If they need help doing that they can either reach out here, or if not, send me a PM and I’ll give you a personal email address where they can reach me and I can walk them through un-registering their device.

But for sure best place is to start with support at the link below. Hope it all works out

Hello Dann, I was able to register my devices under my account just fine with no issues. Wasn’t sure if I could even if it was registered still under the old owner. I’ve already sent a ticket in. I’m not exactly sure what the average wait times on response and or repairs. Would definitely care to hear about that. I’m relatively new still to poly end. I have an og tracker as well. Definitely feeling like a fool for doing what I did with the tascam. I should have known better.

Ok good to hear the registration is all cleared up. People here are typically very happy with the reply time on support tickets.

It’s definitely something that has never come up here before on backstage, so it might justify a slightly longer response time.

While we are here, when you say “I tried hooking it up to a Tascam recorder”, could you describe in details how you were connecting the 2 devices?

Also, if you are able to add/edit your original ticket to support, I would suggest sharing them a link to this thread as it might cover some questions they might ask.

Literally just hooked a 1/4’’ to xlr male to the splitter and put that into the output of the synth, and input it all into the tascam bb-1000. I probably would have been better off using rca hook ups if I had an adapter. I was literally just looking for a simple way to use the tascam as a monitor. In the process I failed to turn the phantom power off. I firmly believe it did something for sure because it was working just fine before that.

And nothing has changed in regards to how you are powering your Synth?

Still powers on, I’m able to navigate like normal but when I plug in my headphones, I get nothing from the audio but a pulsing and the screen slightly dims with the pulses.

Polyend synth video.

I wish I could capture the audio blips it is putting out , so you can hear what I hear but you can see it visually on the trackers input. Let me know if you see the video or not.

I was asking specifically if you have changed the way you are powering your device.

Yeah I was able to see the video. Would be nice to be able to hear what that output sounds like. You can confirm that there is no Arp or Sequence playing from the Synth?

To re address, no I didn’t change the way I was powering it. I’m using the same power block, same c cord.

I’ll see if my phone can even pickup the noise it’s making, because it’s not exactly controlled by volume. I don’t think any arp or sequencing is occurring. *Edit*

here is a link to a video that I tried capturing the on off clicking pop noise.
