Does anyone know if there is a possibility to assign a specific note to a Repeat Rule? As it is implemented on Play (Repeat Grid). I was surprised not to find this feature on Tracker. I desperately need this functionality. It is the simplest and most efficient way to add sounds that should play infrequently without extending the length of the pattern or creating an alternative copy. For example, when I want to add a Crash or any other effect or percussion.

Please, @Mitch can you give a feedback why is this feature missing? Are there any technical difficulties in implementing it? Or am I doing something wrong? Thank you.

I’m not sure i quite understand what you mean by repeat grid?

You mean a note being repeated indefinitely? Or so that you can repeat part of a pattern?
Just like the Perfomance effects on the Play?

Rule for repeating a note. For example:

1. Only once
2. Once every two cycles
3. Once every three cycles
4. Once every four cycles

And so on.

There’s the Roll Step FX ([Page 104 of the Manual](https://polyend-website.fra1.digitaloceanspaces.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/01084045/Polyend-Tracker-Manual-Draft5.pdf))

The way it works on the Tracker is slightly different though from the Play.
There is a very simple chance step FX on the Tracker that you could combine it with, to get closer to it though:
 ![image](https://backstage.polyend.com/uploads/default/original/2X/d/d79ce07948b5e6da2eed983473a551e993fdfedb.png)

But the more detailed version, like on the Play, does not exist on the Tracker yet.
The one wish you’d want is this one:

> [@A:B conditions for each sequencer pass](https://backstage.polyend.com/t/a-b-conditions-for-each-sequencer-pass/909):
>
> A:B conditions for playing steps on the Tracker. What is the problem? Missing more control of chance effects. What do you want to achieve? We have chance fx and random fx, but it would be nice to have control over how many times a step plays after each sequencer pass or how many times an fx is triggered. For example, a snare plays 1 out of every two passes, or on the 3rd pass a roll is triggered. Are there any workarounds? Making multiple patterns. Any links to related discussions? Any ref…

Something similar but not exactly what you are looking for is this:

> [@Secondary / Enhanced Chance Step FX](https://backstage.polyend.com/t/secondary-enhanced-chance-step-fx/2564):
>
> An alternate Chance Step FX (additional to the existing) that would allow to set chance for the note to be played AND a chance for the second FX to be triggered. What is the problem? The current Chance FX (C---) affects the Note played AND the other Step FX on the current step. What do you want to achieve? I propose a second chance step fx, that can do two things: Set chance percentage of the note to be played Set chance percentage of the second Step FX to be triggered How would you like…

Bonus info, there is repeat effect in perfomance mode (Page 308):

Thanks for feedback, Roll is another function. As I understand it, there is no way to program a note repeat rule?

Yes, this is what I was looking for. I hope this will be added in future updates @Mitch . A lot of people voted and they are waiting for this feature.

I can’t make promises on firmware updates, but I used my vote for it and fully agree it would be a great feature that I would use.

Also the number of votes is certainly taken into account on a feature request when considering what to do next, since resources and time, as they are with all things, are limited, this is why extra MIDI tracks were added to tracker since it was #1 wish.

Sure 👌🏻
