My best results so far are setting everything to usb, clock with Logic then -1 on the clock adjustment
I discovered the same behaviour with newest firmware 1.9.1. Every exported wav-file is 44117 Hz - I do the conversion with Wavelab and have no problems. But it would be nice if this bug would have been fixed. Greetings from Leipzig!
I tried converting in logic with no avail will try some other tools online
Is the higher sample rate making any difference to the bpm tho? Does the conversion fix this?
Yes, the file plays slower. Exactly at 0,999614661 speed😄 also the pitch should be a tiny bit off.
I wonder what code bug causes this, its an odd number.
You usually have a var using the dac spl with normal operations like spl/2 or *0.5. I wonder how you get this rounding error.
BPM seems correct even in “raw” mode (no strech)
Its such a tiny amount, the bpm “seems” correct, though in the long run its off. Like playing a 88.2khz file at 44.1khz (twice as long) but with very tiny variation.
Yes exactly there is probably a tiny drift, but Bitwig didn’t seem to notice either.
Very analogue😅 well… my tape has much more drift. Impossible to sync a video to it.
Simply put, our audio codec and hardware determines the output sample rate at 44.117 Hz. If we export at 44.1 it will alter the pitch. Due to these hardware limitations we chose to have a slight speed difference instead of a pitch difference. We can only chose one or the other, and personally we thought having perfect pitch is the better option.
Ah nice to know, thanks for clarification!
So the hardware in the Tracker is defect or faulty, as you had to choose between wrong pitch or wrong BPM as this could not be corrected with code-improvements?
This, in turn, means, that when recording the output of the tracker in realtime without exporting, it should be in time, right?
Yes this is only on the export render, the audio output timing does not change.
No, the hardware is not defective, just limited. The export feature is a complex workaround, and not what the audio codec was originally manufactured specifically to do.
And if i’m not wrong it should be the same with all devices sharing the same architecture on the market. Its nice from Polyend to be honest about it.
