So djmemetic found a bug in the battery estimation section of the Config app - thanks for the input!
v1.7.2 addresses the issue and adds a little more control over estimates as well.
Up top there are 4 Bluetooth ‘mode’ buttons in addition to the speaker slider to help you estimate runtime based on your usage. Basically, the more intensive the BLE/speaker usage, the faster you drain the battery.

I’m shopping around for CNC machining quotes now and will update y’all as this develops.
The plastic back panel is for the bluetooth signal.

Are the internals the same for the first batch, second batch, and aluminum? How many of the aluminum are you looking to make? My dad has a CNC that is just sitting around. I could probably make a jig to run a bunch at once if my dad doesn’t mind. Definitely no promises but worth asking.
As I said before, if you hadn’t helped with the software, it wouldn’t be anywhere near this far along yet. So thanks for the warm fuzzies Sandro! 
Yes, yes, and yes. - the aluminum shell will be a 1to1 swap, so DIY folks could change it out themselves.
