Midi clock divider

What is the problem?

Not sure if this is even a wish or a QoL but lets post it anyway.

Being a tracker user since my early age, tempo was always declared in 2 steps.
Primary tempo and secondary tempo or ticks per bar.

So, for example 120bpm with 4 ticks per bar gives you quarter note = 120 in musical terms. 120 with 8 ticks per bar essentially results in 240bpm or eight note = 120.

PT has a simpler way of doing it, therefore the bpm goes up to 800. You just double the bpm for greater resolution. Fine.

Being one of my main sequencers in the studio and also advertised as such, the midi clock needs a divider setting. My poor drum machines going nuts thinking iā€™m doing gabba running at double time.

What should this feature achieve?

In settings menu right next to midi clock out, let there be a setting with 1/2/4 to divide the outgoing midi clock. Normal/half/quarter.
Its much easier to implement than a secondary tempo next to the bpm selector and let you run all your beloved gear at the right speed.

If you want to have a really cool feature you can even give the user odd dividers like 2/3 or 4/5.

Are there any workarounds?

External clock/midi matrix. But its a pita to change it on every song due to the different set resolution in PT
