# Help understanding Midi Thru

I have midi out from the Tracker going to midi in on a Digitone which works perfectly.

I’m wondering if I can connect a midi keyboard going to Tracker midi in and in turn send notes to the Digitone.

Unfortunately no. The Tracker doesn’t really have [a proper MIDI Thru](https://backstage.polyend.com/t/midi-thru-should-forward-the-channel-data-it-receives/182) functionality.

If your goal is to use your MIDI Keyboard with the Tracker AND the Digitone, then a MIDI Thru Box is your best bet. There’s quite a lot of possibilities out there for MIDI Thru Boxes:

My recommendation is the CME WIDI Thru6 BT

It’s the cheapest on the market (not by much), and the most feature packed.

What i forgot to mention.

If it’s just these two devices and you don’t need to use them at the same time via the keyboard: You don’t really need a MIDI Thru Box then, just switch the MIDI In as neede and don’t worry about it. 😊
