Hi, I’m a newer user, and I’m trying to understand how FILL behaves in terms of replacing notes (or not??) that are already in the selected region track/steps. What I have noticed is that if I start by selecting a region and delete all the notes, the first patterns I try will work perfectly. If continue to try out / audition other FILL options without first deleting the notes that are there from previous FILL selections, the region will soon fill up with notes. This suggests to me that fill only works additively —as the name suggests — and fills empty slots. This behavior has been observed regardless of the fill types selected. I thought that FILL would replace whatever was selected with the specified FILL type, but this is not the behavior I am seeing. What I am curious to know is: 1) Is this normal? I am using the new 1.9 firmware. Thanks for any help you can provide!
Yeah, it only insert data, not blanks in your tracks.
Thanks for your reply, I suspected this was the case, but wanted to make sure. It’s somewhat counter-intuitive to the way copy and paste works — but I guess that’s why they call it FILL! ; )
