Using the DWA engine, the second sample slot will not play with “backwards” selected, if the play mode is one shot or sync loop. The first sample slot will play with those settings.
The patch I am testing has the DWA engine loaded as synth one
I wasn’t able to reproduce this scenario. Could you please provide more details about your settings? Which engines are configured in the remaining synth slots (Synth 2 and 3)? It may seem irrelevant, but it could be important for our investigation. I think this might be related to the following issue: https://backstage.polyend.com/t/synth-dwa-engine-one-shot-mode-doesnt-work/23608/16
I saw that thread, and yes, that does seem like a similar issue
The current patch has DWA as synth 1, WTFM as synth 2 and GRAIN as synth 3.
When I set up the patch originally, I started with an init scene and dropped in init DWA patches for all three synths. At that stage, the playback problem with the second sample slot of the instance of DWA as synth 1 was already happening.
Voice allocation is 3,3,1
Grid layout is 3 in 1
Happy to supply any other specific details if you want me to
I did a bit more testing. This time with a 3x3 grid
I can say with some certainty that if a GRAIN or DWA engine are placed next to the original DWA engine then strange things seem to happen to the playback of samples in the first DWA synth. I can’t be more precise about that as I got differing results with different set ups: sometimes no sound at all sometimes just one of the samples would not play.
Thanks for the details, I was able to reproduce the bug this time.
It’s definitely an issue with the DWA engine (in conjunction with certain engines), and all I can say right now is that it’s on our radar. I can’t promise anything beyond that at this time.
I’ve added your report to our internal issue ticket. I’ll keep you posted if we find a solution.
