I think the previously suggested method as implemented on the Play is perhaps best from a user and Polyend perspective. It also allows copying any Pattern to any other as opposed to just the current Pattern.
But at this point, any method that allows quick no-brainer Pattern duplication (for creating via a theme & variation approach) would be welcome.
Iām sure whatever the Play has would be the easiest to implement. I donāt have a Play so I donāt know how that works. However, I agree with you that anything they do will be welcomed.
I agree that the process of preparing patterns when writing a song is very tedious.
To me, the easiest solution would be to add a function in the Song Mode to Duplicate Slot, which, unlike Add Slot, wouldnāt just create another row with the currently selected pattern, but instead would copy the current pattern to a new pattern slot. This would save you from all the hassle of stepping out of Song Mode and into the Pattern editor to copy and then switching pattern and then pasting to create the copy, and then jumping back into Song Mode to add a row with the new pattern.
Unless something has changed that Iāve missed, you technically can duplicate a pattern without stopping playback, but there will be a brief period of time where the target/destination (blank) pattern will play before the current patternās data is pasted, which is less than ideal and actually incredibly frustrating (to me).
